EDISON, NJ - In the opening week of MAAC Outdoor Track and Field competition, Monmouth's Ahmier Dupree is the Men's Track Performer of the Week and Manhattan's Kathy Cadet is the Women's Track Performer of the Week. While, Blerim Pocesta from Manhattan is the Men's Field Performer of the Week and Monmouth's Faith Blamon is the Women's Field Performer of the Week.

Senior Ahmier Dupree ran his way to an IC4A qualifying time in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.76 seconds. Dupree added to his impressive weekend with another IC4A qualifying time of 49.19 in the 400-meter dash.

Just one week after competing at the U.S. Indoor Championships in the weight throw, Pocesta opened the outdoor season with a third-place showing in the hammer throw at the Baldy Castillo Invitational on Friday night.  His toss of 63.09 meters (207 feet) ranks him 13th in the NCAA East Region.  Pocesta also took 24th in the discus with a 43.65 m (143’2) effort.

Despite poor weather, Monmouth's Junior Faith Blamon placed fourth in the women’s javelin throw with a distance of 40.99 meters. Blamon was also second among Monmouth athletes with a throw of 11.88 meters in the women’s shot put.

The 2016 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 7-8 at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ.
