EDISON, NJ – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s and women’s lacrosse conference play is in full swing as the calendar turns to April.

In men’s lacrosse news, Marist defeated Michigan 7-6 in overtime on the road last week and knocked off Canisius 13-10 to improve to 2-0 in MAAC play behind offensive player of the week, J.D. Recor. Recor had two had tricks to go along with three assists in the two Marist victories. Quinnipiac recorded its first MAAC win with an 11-6 defeat of Siena. Defensive Player of the Week, Jack Brust, held the Saints to six goals, making 14 saves, while facing 38 shots. Monmouth’s Eamon Campbell earns his second straight rookie of the week honors after scoring one goal, recording two helpers, scooping up five groundballs and causing two turnovers in the Hawks win over Manhattan.

This week’s men’s lacrosse schedule includes:

·         Manhattan at New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday, April 2 at 12:00 p.m.

·         Detroit versus Siena on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN3

·         Marist versus Quinnipiac on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m.

·         Canisius versus Monmouth on Saturday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m.

In women’s lacrosse news, Canisius’ Taylor Giglio was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week. Giglio recorded eight goals and four assists for the Griffs. The senior is now tied for the team lead in goals with eighteen and leads the team in both assists (7) and points (25).  Monmouth’s Caroline Huelster was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week. She is currently the conference leader in saves and had a career-high 14 stops in the Hawks 16-15 win over Siena. Niagara’s Hailey D’Hont takes home Rookie of the Week honors after an eight point week for the Purple Eagles. In two wins against St. Bonaventure and Quinnipiac, she recorded four goals and four assists.

·         Quinnipiac versus Central Connecticut State on Wednesday, March 30 at 3:00 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Vermont on Wednesday, March 30 at 3:00 p.m.

·         Quinnipiac versus Canisius on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m.

·         Monmouth versus Niagara on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m.

·         Iona versus LIU Brooklyn on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m.

·         Fairfield versus Marist on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m.

·         Manhattan versus Siena on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m.
