EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) calendar is halfway through April and spring championships are fast approaching.
In baseball news, Canisius, Marist and Monmouth all have eight wins in conference play while Fairfield sits at 7-2 in the MAAC. This past weekend, Siena took two out of three from Monmouth while the Stags swept Niagara. The Griffs swept it series with Rider.

Monmouth is in first place with a 9-1 conference record on the softball field. The Hawks swept a two-game series with Manhattan. Amanda Riley tossed a complete-game two hitter for the Hawks. Marist is in second place with a 7-1 record. Jayne Oberdorf threw a no-hitter against Quinnipiac, striking out five.

Monmouth’s Geordan Ferguson and Jessica Lee of Quinnipiac were named men’s and women’s track performers of the week, respectively. Manhattan’s Bobby Gebhard and Charlene Phol were named men’s and women’s field performers of the week, respectively.

In water polo news, Wagner finished the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record to win the regular season championship. The two-time defending champions will be the number one seed at the upcoming MAAC Water Polo Championship.
