Quinnipiac Sweeps Final Weekly Tennis Honors of 2016 Season

Sophia Dzulynsky, Quinnipiac

Dzulynsky went 6-0 this past week for the Bobcats, as they clinched their third straight regular season title and the #1 seed in the 2016 MAAC Women’s Tennis Championship. In Quinnipiac’s sweep of Fairfield, Dzulynsky defeated Nicole Aragones, 6-1, 6-2 from the top singles position. In doubles play, Dzulynsky paired up with teammate Kelsi Oliphant to defeat Fairfield’s Connors/McKeough, 6-2. In the Bobcat’s win vs. Siena, Dzulynsky defeated Siena’s Ali Garrity at the top singles position by a score of 6-2, 6-4. In doubles action, Dzulynsky and teammate Sitilia Rencheli defeated Siena’s pairing of Singh/Weaver, 6-4. Going into the MAAC Championship this weekend, Dzulynsky has won five straight singles matches and seven of her last eight.
Men's Player of the Week
Kei Ezaka, Quinnipiac
Jr., Ojai, CA/ Weil Tennis Academy College Prep
Ezaka earned six wins last week as the Bobcats defeated MAAC opponents, Fairfield and Siena, and also clinched a share of the regular season Men’s Tennis title. Against Fairfield, Ezaka defeated Fairfield’s Brad Orban from the number one singles spot, 6-3, 6-3. In doubles action, Ezaka and Luke Roser defeated Fairfield’s Orban and Pamich, 6-2. In Quinnipiac’s sweep of Siena, Ezaka defeated Alessandro Saglia, 6-0, 6-2. In doubles play, Ezaka and Roser defeated Siena’s number one pair of Saglia/Lebron, 6-2. These victories mark Ezaka’s ninth consecutive singles match since March 16th, all coming from the number one singles spot.
