MAAC Announces Women’s Tennis Major Award Winners

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced the members of the 2016 Women’s Tennis All-MAAC teams, highlighted by Quinnipiac University’s Sophia Dzulynsky, who was selected as the league’s Player of the Year while Marist College’s Caroline Lozo was named Rookie of the Year.

Quinnipiac University Head Coach Paula Miller was named the MAAC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. Miller, currently in her second year as the head coach of the women’s tennis program, led the Bobcats to an overall record of 13-10 and a perfect 7-0 mark in conference play.  Miller helped guide the Bobcats to their third straight regular season conference title. 

Dzulynsky, a senior from Miramar, Florida finished the regular season with 35 wins, while posting a perfect 7-0 mark in MAAC singles play. She ended her final regular season as a Bobcat winning seven of her last eight matches and was able to eclipse 100 career match victories along the way.  In addition, Dzulynsky also earned a spot on the All-MAAC First Team at No. 1 singles, and a spot on the All-MAAC Second Team at No. 2 doubles, with her teammate Sitilia Rencheli. 

Lozo, a freshman from Tampa, Florida finished her first regular season as a Red Fox with a 5-0 record in conference singles play and 6-1 record in conference doubles play.  Lozo also received All-MAAC First Team honors at No. 2 Singles and at No. 2 Doubles with her teammate, Ariel Shulman.
