Sophomore Utility Hannah Schultz totaled 15 goals on 32 shots, and collected three steals over the weekend, leading the Gaels to a 3-1 record in MAAC play. Schultz scored 4+ goals in three of the four contests. The sophomore led the team with 5 goals in the Gaels rout of Siena, and scored four in wins against Villanova and VMI.
Defensive Player of the Week
Dana Andrea, Iona
Sr., Utility, 5-5, Indian Creek, IL / Vernon Hills
Senior Dana Andrea totaled three goals, two assists, and a staggering ten steals in three wins over the weekend, leading the Gaels to a 3-1 record. The senior tallied one goal, two assists and two steals in Iona’s win over Siena. Against Villanova, she gathered four steals. To conclude the weekend, Andrea posted a line of two goals and four steals.
Rookie of the Week
Jordin Hale, Iona
Fr., Goalie, 5-10, Chicago, IL / Oak Park-River Forest
Freshman Jordin Hale started two games for the Gaels over the weekend, leading to a 1-1 record. In total, the freshman totaled 17 saves, five steals and one assist. On Saturday against Wagner, the netminder stopped eight shots, collected three steals, and added an assist. In Iona’s 9-8 victory over Villanova, Hale made nine saves, and added two steals.
