Player of the Week

Janna Korak, Marist

Jr., OF, 5-9, Huntsville, AL/Sparkman

Korak hit .474 (9-for-19) with six of her hits going for extra bases this past week. She finished with a slugging percentage of .895 as she had five doubles and a home run. She contributed seven RBIs, two runs scored, and hit safely in every game with three multi-hit contests. At Fairfield on May 4, her three-run homer in the sixth inning broke open a one-run game in Marist’s 7-2 triumph. The following day at Fairfield, she singled and doubled in three at bats. In the first game of a doubleheader against Canisius on May 7, Korak delivered two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored as Marist prevailed 4-1 to clinch the MAAC regular-season championship. In the second game, she notched her third consecutive two-hit game with a pair of singles. In the first game of a doubleheader at Siena on May 8, Korak had an RBI double in Marist’s 14-0 win. In the second game, she had a two-run double in the seventh inning which tied the score. Korak handled all six of her fielding chances in right field without committing an error.

Pitcher of the Week

Jayne Oberdorf, Marist

Jr., P, 5-5, Greensburg, PA/Greensburg Salem

Oberdorf had complete game victories in all three of her starts this past week. She finished the week 3-0 with a 1.11 ERA in 19 innings. She recorded nine strikeouts against just four walks, and permitted just 10 hits as the opposition hit just .156 against her. Oberdorf did not allow more than four hits in any game. At Fairfield on May 4, she allowed just two runs, four hits, and two walks in Marist’s 7-2 victory. Against Canisius on May 7, she permitted only one run, four hits, and one walk with four strikeouts as Marist clinched the regular-season championship with a 4-1 triumph. At Siena on May 8, Oberdorf pitched a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts against just one walk in Marist’s 14-0 victory in five innings. She has now won 11 consecutive decisions, and finished the season undefeated in conference play.

Rookie of the Week

Alexa Dawid, Manhattan

Fr., OF, 5-4, Milford, CT/Lauralton Hall

Dawid hit .357 in the Jaspers’ 6-0 week.  In game one of the doubleheader sweep over Iona on Thursday, she was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs.  Dawid then went a combined 2-for-4 in the twinbill at Saint Peter’s on Saturday.  She finished 1-for-1 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in the first game before going 1-for-3 with a walk in game two.
