Two Colleen McWilliams Home Runs, Oberdorf's Shutout Gives Marist 3-0 Victory over Fairfield

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – 2016 MAAC Softball Regular Season Champions, Marist, defeated Fairfield 3-0 behind a complete-game shutout from 2016 MAAC Softball Pitcher of the Year, Jayne Oberdorf and two home runs from Colleen McWilliams, who was responsible for all the Marist runs today.
Oberdorf went 7 innings, striking out seven, allowing only three hits on 113 pitches. Marist will now face Quinnipiac on Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. while Fairfield will face third seeded Canisius later on today at 4:30 p.m. in an elimination game.
The 2016 MAAC Softball Championship is a double elimination style tournament with the championship final taking place on Saturday, May 14 at noon. If the team coming out of the loser’s bracket defeats the team in the winners’ bracket, the second and deciding game will take place at 2:30 p.m.
The winner of the 2016 MAAC Softball Championship will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship. The NCAA Softball Selection Show is on Sunday, May 15 on ESPNU at 10:00 p.m.
