Marist Softball Headed To Tennessee For NCAA Regionals

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team learned Sunday night that it will open NCAA Regional play at #13 overall seed Tennessee on Friday. The game will take place at 7 p.m. EDT, and will be televised on ESPN2.

The regional uses a double-elimination format. Here is the schedule for the weekend:

Weekend Schedule

Friday

Game 1: Arizona (36-19) vs. Ohio State (33-18-1), 4:30 p.m. (ESPNU)

Game 2: Tennessee (41-14) vs. Marist (45-11), 7 p.m. (ESPN2)

Saturday

Game 3: Game 1 Winner vs. Game 2 Winner, Noon

Game 4: Game 1 Loser vs. Game 2 Loser, 2:30 p.m.

Game 5: Game 3 Loser vs. Game 4 Winner, 5 p.m.

Sunday

Game 6: Game 3 Winner vs. Game 5 Winner, Noon

Game 7: Game 6 Winner vs. Game 6 Loser (If necessary), 2:30 p.m.

Marist has set a program record for victories this season. The Red Foxes won their third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in program history with a 3-2 triumph over Monmouth in Saturday’s conference final. Junior pitcher Jayne Oberdorf was named MAAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. Sophomore designated player Gabrielle Kelliher, senior center fielder Colleen McWilliams, freshman second baseman Claire Oberdorf and senior shortstop Kyrsten Van Natta were named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team.

Marist previously reached the NCAAs in 2006 and 2013.
