EDISON, NJ – Manhattan College’s Madison Arndt has been selected to the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Arndt, a sophomore pole vaulter on the Jaspers track and field team, begins her term with the NCAA on June 1, 2016 and will continue to serve in this role through May 31, 2018.

Arndt said, “When I heard the news that I got this position, I was immediately filled with pure happiness and felt truly honored to represent the MAAC at the national level."

She added, "SAAC allows me to have a voice that counts, to make a difference in the overall student-athlete experience, and to give back to the community around me, all while still being a full-time student-athlete. I am excited to start this two year learning experience and cannot wait to be a part of something bigger than myself.”

NCAA National SAAC Representatives serve as the student-athlete voice for each of the NCAA's member athletic conferences. Arndt was selected from a pool of candidates nominated by the MAAC who were then asked to submit a written application.

“The MAAC is excited to have Madison appointed to the NCAA SAAC committee. She is a positive leader that will contribute greatly to the national SAAC group. We look forward to her serving as MAAC SAAC president and representing the MAAC on a national level,” said MAAC Senior Associate Commissioner Jessica Hegmann.

Jaspers women’s track and field coach Nick McDonough added, “Maddie will be a great addition to the NCAA SAAC committee. She cares deeply about the all-around student-athlete experience.  She wants our student-athletes to have experiences that will help shape them into young concerned citizens of the world.  I am sure she will be a great addition and bring new ideas and perspective to this group of student leaders from around the country.”

Arndt won the bronze medal in the pole vault at the 2015 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She finished eighth in the pole vault at the 2015 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships this past February The marketing major, who was named to the MAAC All-Academic team this past fall, also competed in the ECAC Indoor Championships last season.
