EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s lacrosse championship began last weekend with first round action on Saturday, April 30. The 2016 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship begins this Thursday, May 5 at host school Quinnipiac.

In women’s lacrosse news, Canisius will finish its last regular season matchup with Syracuse on Tuesday, May 3 at 4:30 p.m. The game was previously postponed due to weather but will resume with 6:05 remaining in the second half all tied at 10.

The third seeded Monmouth Hawks defeated the sixth seeded Iona Gaels, 13-7 in opening round action. The Hawks will now take on second seeded Marist on Friday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN. Fifth seeded Fairfield knocked off fourth seeded Niagara 9-7 and now will face top seeded Canisius on Friday, May 6 at 8:00 p.m. The winners of these two games will face one another in the championship game on Sunday, May 8 at noon at host school Canisius

In men’s lacrosse news, The 2016 MAAC Regular Season Champions, Quinnipiac will take on fourth seeded Canisius in the first semifinal matchup of the 2016 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship. Game time is set for noon on Thursday, May 5.

Marist College finished the regular season with a 4-2 record in conference play to earn the second seed. The Red Foxes will face third seeded Monmouth University, who claimed a spot in the championship after an exciting 14-13 win in overtime against Siena College in its regular season finale. This semifinal matchup will take place on Thursday, May 5 at 3:30 p.m.

The two winners of the semifinal matchups will meet in the 2016 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship game on Saturday, May 7 at noon. All games can be seen on MAAC.TV
