2016 MAAC Baseball Championship Field Set

EDISON, NJ – The teams and seeding have been set for the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Baseball Championship. The 2016 MAAC Baseball Championship is hosted by Manhattan College and will take place at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, NY.

Fairfield University claimed the number one seed and are the 2016 MAAC Baseball Regular Season Champions, finishing the season with a 17-7 record in conference play.  The Stags will play in Game 3 of the championship on Wednesday, May 25 at 7:00 p.m. and will face the lower seeded winner of Game 1 or Game 2.

Siena College will be the number two seed and face the higher seed winner of Game 1 or 2 on Thursday, May 26 at noon. The Saints finished MAAC play with a 16-8 record. The Saints hold the tiebreaker over Monmouth University and Canisius College by going 4-2 combined against the Hawks and Griffs.

Monmouth University claims the third seed with a 16-8 mark in conference play. The Hawks will kick of the 2016 MAAC Baseball Championship when they take on sixth seeded Manhattan College on Wednesday, May 25 at noon. The Jaspers were 13-11 in MAAC play this season.

The defending champions, fourth seeded Canisius College will take on fifth seeded Marist College on Wednesday, May 25 at 3:30 p.m. The Griffs were 16-8 in conference play while the Red Foxes were 13-11. The Red Foxes hold the tiebreaker over Manhattan with its 2-1 head to head record over the Jaspers this season.

The 2016 MAAC Baseball Championship is a double-elimination style tournament. The championship game takes place on Saturday, May 28 at noon with the if necessary game taking place at 3:30 p.m.
