MAAC Sports
EDISON, NJ – In the seventh and final week of Outdoor Track and Field competition, we had the Monmouth Hawks won both of the male weekly awards and the Quinnipiac Bobcats won the female weekly awards. Stephen Adkisson of Monmouth University earns his first Men’s Track Performer of the Week Award, while Monmouth's Corey Murphy won Men’s Field Performer of the Week. For Quinnipiac University, Kaleigh Roberts is the Women’s Track Performer of the Week and Carly Timpson was named the Women’s Field Performer of the Week.
Stephen Adkisson placed first in the men’s 110-meter hurdles at the Lehigh Games this weekend. His time of 15.24 beat 12 other sprinters for the win.
Kaleigh Roberts won the 800m at the Yale Springtime Invitational as she scorched her previous personal-best despite the less-than-ideal conditions as Roberts crossed the line in 2:14.13. For the sophomore Roberts, she adds another boost to her career resume as her time of 2:14.13 is good enough for third on the all-time list at Quinnipiac. In just two years, Roberts ranks in the top three all-time at Quinnipiac in five different events (800 3rd; 1000m 3rd; 1500m 2nd; One Mile 1st; 3000m 2nd).
At The Penn Relays this weekend, sophomore thrower Corey Murphy placed fifth in the men’s shot put championship with a toss of 57’2” (17.42m). Murphy then traveled to the Lehigh Games, where he won the men’s discus throw after a distance of 166’10.25” (50.85m). He later took second with a 56’8.5” (17.28m) throw in the shot put.
Carly Timpson dominated the competition with a throw of 51.77m in the hammer throw at the Yale Springtime Invitational to take first place, besting the second place finisher by more than five meters.
The 2016 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 7-8 at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ.
