JACKSONVILLE, FL— The Iona College men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams closed out the third and final day of the NCAA Division 1 East Prelims in style. Senior Tara Jameson and sophomore Chartt Miller picked up two more national qualifiers in the 5,000-meter run.
Jameson's sensational season continued as she followed up her stunning 10,000-meter victory with second place in the 5,000-meter, posting a new personal-best of 16:08.91. She beat her old time by nearly seven seconds. She will run in the finals at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday June 11 at 5:25 pm PT/ 8:25 pm ET.
Miller took home first in heat one and third overall in the 5,000-meter with a time of 14:09.34. Joining teammate junior Brandon Allen as the Iona men's team representatives, Miller will also advance to the finals which will take place on Friday June 10 at 7:25 PM PT/ 10:25 PM ET.
Sophomore Liam Dee and freshman Sebastian Hendel both concluded their 2016 season, with Dee finishing 21st with a time of 14:23.44. Hendel finished right behind him in 22nd with time of 14:26.01.
