Canisius & Marist Boats Earn MAAC Rowing Weekly Awards

Varsity Eight

Canisius College

The Canisius varsity eight advanced to the final round of the New York State Collegiate Championships, as the lineup of Kira Voyer, Shannon Pritzker, Nora Kennon, Kathryn Hobika, Brooke Stanley, Molly Murphy, Sydney Bichsel and Hannah Blum finished the race in fourth with a time of 6:56.78. The squad advanced out of the preliminary round with a time of 6:54.45. The varsity eight posted a better time than MAAC foe, Marist.

Second Varsity Eight

Marist College

The Marist junior varsity eight finished first in their heat with a time of 7:12.4, beating out the second place boat, University of Rochester, by a margin of 10 seconds. The Red Foxes continued on to their junior varsity grand final and came out on top by four seconds over Ithaca while also beating boats from Canisius, Geneseo, the University of Rochester, and RIT winning the NYS Championship for second varsity eight boats.

Varsity Four

Marist College

In the  varsity four race, the Red Foxes first boat won their heat by the slimmest of margins over Canisius College and the Rensselaer Crew Club while also beating out boats from D’Youville College and Oswego State. The varsity four boat moved on to the grand finals where they finished in 5th behind Binghamton, Ithaca, Skidmore, and Army West Point, but beat out MAAC foe Canisius with a time of 8:31.649.
