EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference crowned its 2016 Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Champions this past weekend.
Top seeded Quinnipiac defeated second seeded Marist 13-9 in the MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship final to earn a spot in the NCAA Championship. They will face the University of Hartford in a preliminary round matchup. These two teams met during the regular season back on March 10 with the Bobcats pulling out an 11-10 overtime victory. Opening faceoff will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 at QU Lacrosse Turf Complex in Hamden. This is the first-ever NCAA game in the history of Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse. The winner of Quinnipiac and Hartford will face top seeded Maryland on Sunday, May 15 at 12:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

Canisius is the 2016 MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Champion. It is the fifth MAAC Championship in program history. The Griffs defeated third seeded Monmouth 17-5 in the championship final. Canisius will face eighth seeded Cornell in the first round of the NCAA Championship on Friday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. The game takes place at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, NY. The winner of Cornell and Canisius will face the winner of Princeton and Massachusetts on Sunday, May 15.
