Remillard Earns NCBWA All-America Honors

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Senior pitcher Iannick Remillard added another honor to his long resume at the end of his final season as a member of the Blue and Gold, as the Valleyfield, Quebec native earned Natinoal Collegiate Basbeall Writers Association Division I All-America honors for the first time in his career. Remillard was named to the All-America Third Team.

The Canisius hurler knocked down a variety team and conference records along the course of the season, setting the new MAAC-best mark in saves in a season with 17, as well as program records for saves in a season and career saves. Remillard finished his Canisius career with 29 saves, including a new program best for a single season with 17 in 2016.

Canisius’ most reliable stopper was also named to the 2016 MAAC Reliever of the Year as well as earning All-MAAC Second Team honors. The awards were the first time he’s garnered conference postseason accolades.

Remillard is just the second Canisius player to earn NCBWA All-America honors and the first since 2008 when Shane Davis was also named to the third team.

The Griffs’ most prolific closer finished his career with the  Blue and Gold  with a 4.03 ERA, and a 6-6 record in 74 appearances. Remillard fanned 105 batters in 111.12 innings pitched to go along with his 29 saves.

This past season the Canisius baseball team earned its 10-straight postseason appearance earning the fourth seed in the MAAC tournament. The squad was ousted from the tournament after winning its first-two games, dropping contests to No. 1 Fairfield and No. 3 Siena. Canisius ended the campaign with a 32-27 and a 16-8 MAAC record.
