2016-17 MAAC Championship Dates & Sites Announced

EDISON, NJ – The 2016-17 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its championship dates and sites for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
The 2016 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL on Saturday, October 29. Iona College and Quinnipiac University are the defending Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Champions, respectively.
The 2016 MAAC Volleyball Championship will be hosted by Fairfield University from Friday, November 18 through Saturday, November 20. The Stags are the defending MAAC Volleyball Champions.
The 2017 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships take place from Wednesday, February 8 through Saturday, February 11 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY and is co-hosted by Canisius College and Niagara University. Rider University and Marist College are the reigning Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Champions, respectively. The 2017 Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships take place at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center in New York, NY from Saturday, February 18 through Sunday, February 19. Monmouth University won both the Men’s and Women’s Championships this past season.
The 2016-17 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships take place at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY from Thursday, March 2 through Monday, March 6. Iona College is the reigning Men’s and Women’s Basketball Champions.
As the calendar turns to spring, the 2017 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships take place at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, FL from Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23. Siena College took home the Men’s Golf Championship while Quinnipiac University won the Women’s Golf Championship this past year.
Mercer County Park will serve as the host for the 2017 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships as well as the 2017 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Rowing Championships. Tennis takes place on Saturday, April 29 and runs through Sunday, April 30. Rowing begins on Saturday, May 13 and concludes on Sunday, May 14. Monmouth University were the 2016 Men’s Tennis Champions while Quinnipiac University won the 2016 Women’s Tennis Championship. Marist College took home the 2016 Men’s Rowing Championship while Jacksonville University won the 2016 Women’s Rowing Championship.
The 2017 MAAC Water Polo Championship is hosted by Marist College from Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30. Wagner College is the defending MAAC Water Polo Champions. The 2017 Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Rider University from Saturday, May 6 through Sunday, May 7. Monmouth University won both the men’s and women’s championships this past season. The 2017 MAAC Baseball Championship site is to be determined at this time.
In addition its conference championships, the MAAC will also be hosting three NCAA Championships during the 2016-17 campaign. The first and second rounds of the 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY. The MAAC will also be hosting the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Regional at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, NY and the 2017 NCAA Rowing Championships from May 26-28, at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, NJ, co-hosting with the Ivy League.
