HAMDEN, Connecticut – Quinnipiac women’s basketball head coach Tricia Fabbri has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Competition Committee. Fabbri will serve on the committee beginning immediately through June 30, 2018. Fabbri will be one of two NCAA Division I coaches on the committee, joining Dawn Staley of national power South Carolina.

“This particular group has played a large role within a collaborative effort of NCAA committees assisting in many of the modern day changes to the game as well as preserving the integrity of how our game is played,” Fabbri said. “In addition, I look forward to bringing a different perspective to the table and help with the work at hand over the course of the two years and continue to make our game the best it can be.”

The 2016-17 season signals Fabbri’s 22nd year at Quinnipiac as the all-time winningest coach in program history hopes to continue an impressive run of recent success. Last season, Fabbri led the Bobcats to a 25-win season, second consecutive MAAC Regular Season title and trip to the WNIT where Quinnipiac defeated Maine, 90-44, to earn the program’s first national postseason tournament win.

Since Fabbri’s arrival in Hamden, Quinnipiac stands with a mark of 350-269 including a 238-149 record in conference games. Fabbri is one of just five coaches in the history of Quinnipiac Athletics to accumulate at least 350 wins. She is a five-time Coach of the Year in conference and has won the last two consecutive MAAC Coach of the Year honors. All seven Quinnipiac alums who’ve gone on to play professionally overseas – Ashlee Kelly, Felicia Barron, Brittany McQuain, Samantha Guastella, Gillian Abshire, Nikoline Ostergaard and Val Driscoll – were standouts in Fabbri’s tenure.

The past five seasons has been filled with nothing but success for Quinnipiac as Fabbri has guided her team to a 129-39 (.768 win percentage) overall record from 2011-16. The .768 win percentage over the last five seasons has Quinnipiac sitting 16th in the nation, fifth among mid-majors and fourth in the Northeast region. Fabbri’s squad has also garnered votes in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches’ Poll as well as high acclaim in the various national mid-major polls in multiple seasons throughout the five-year run.
