Male Runner of the Week
Brendan Copley, Quinnipiac
Gr., Colchester, Vermont/Colchester High School
Making his long-awaited return following a redshirt season in 2015, fifth-year standout Brendan Copley placed first overall in the field for the second time in his career at the Stony Brook Invitational. The three-time All-Conference runner made quite the early impression on first-year head coach Josh Glaab as he led the field with a time of 18:43.74, nearly six seconds faster than the second place runner. Copley's sixth career Top 5 finish and second career first place finish set the tone for the Bobcats on a day in which Quinnipiac captured an event title for the first time since 2008. The Bobcats’ team victory also signaled the end of a five-year title run for the host Stony Brook as the Bobcats’ triumph marked the first time since 2011 that the Seawolves did not win their season-opening meet.
