Bridgeport, PA – Wagner women's water polo ranks No. 20 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Preseason National Top 25 Poll for the second straight year, announced by the league office.
As the only ranked Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) team, the preseason recognition comes on the heels of finishing the 2016 season as No. 18. The Seahawks garnered 25 points to notch the twentieth spot while fellow MAAC co-preseason favorite, Marist College received votes and garnered two points.
The Seahawks enter the 2017 season coming off their third consecutive MAAC Championship as they bested Marist 8-5 a season ago to claim the crown en route to a 29-10 overall record. Despite losing three 2016 All-MAAC selections to graduation, two-time MAAC Coach of the Year Chris Radmonovich has added four freshmen to the squad. Additionally, the Green & White returns MAAC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year Emily Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta / Dr. E.P. Scarlett) and Preseason All-MAAC selection Kimberly Watson (Pointe-Claire, Quebec / John Rennie).
The three-time defending champions will travel to Tempe, AZ to begin the season at the ASU Invitational with a match-up against No. 9 University of California Santa Barbara on January 28.
