Over the course of a 2-0 week, senior guard Marina Lizarazu averaged 25.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. She played all 40 minutes of each game, shooting 51.5 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc. Lizarazu scored a career-high 26 points against Manhattan on Friday, January 20. She shot 10-of-17 from the floor, 2-of-3 from long range, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. She also dished out a game-high six assists and swiped a game-high four steals. She played all 40 minutes for the fifth time this season.
Against Monmouth, who were coming off a win over MAAC-leading Quinnipiac, Lizarazu scored 24 points, dished out two assists, and pulled down five rebounds. She scored half of her points in the fourth quarter and was 10-of-12 from the free-throw line, and 4-of-4 in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.

Kayla Shaw, Monmouth

In two conference games this week, Monmouth freshman guard Kayla Shaw averaged 14.0 points per game, including a 20-point outburst in the Hawks’ 61-58 win over league-leading Quinnipiac on Thursday, January 19. Shaw hit four three-pointers in the first 12 minutes of the game and scored eight points in the third quarter to help Monmouth defeat the Bobcats. She also added three rebounds and three steals.
On Sunday, January 22, Shaw added eight more points and two more threes in Monmouth’s loss at Iona. She added four rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes of play. The freshman leads the MAAC with 54 three-pointers made this season.
