Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Shawn Warner, Niagara
Sr., Lake Worth, FL
Senior Shawn Warner earned two first-place finishes and one second-place finish in Niagara’s Senior Day dual meet against Canisius College on January 21.Warner recorded the top time in the men’s 200-fly (1:53.68) and the men’s 100-fly (51.22 seconds). His second-place finish was behind teammate, Nicolas Winograd, with a time of 1:58.38 in the 200 IM. In the 400-medley relay, Warner swam with Robert Brown, Daniel Leskowicz, and James Crumm to take second-place (3.15.93). Warner ranks in the MAAC top-10 in eight events (100, 200, & 1650 free; 100 and 200 fly, 100, 200 & 400 IM) with one meet remaining before the MAAC Championships.
Female Swimmer of the Week
Colleen Young, Fairfield
Fr., 5-8, Saint Louis, MO/Lindbergh High School
Colleen Young started off the week setting a school record and placing first in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:43.25) against Siena College. She also finished first with a personal best time in the 200-meter IM (2.30.48).
Against Iona College, Young took home first place in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:17.55 and also in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:46.13). Young also placed second in the 200-meter IM (2:31.36). In her final meet of the week against Sacred Heart University, Young placed first in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:47.26) and notched a second-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:19.08).
Men’s Diver of the Week
Travis Wright, Canisius
Jr., 5-9, Derby, NY/Lake Shore
Junior Travis Wright placed first in both of his diving events versus Niagara University on January 21. He won the one-meter (331.13) and the three-meter (334.35) events, surpassing the second-place finisher by over 45 points in the one-meter and the three-meter runner up by 22 points.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Vivian Mroz, Canisius
So., 5-7, Denver, CO/Bronxville
Vivian Mroz was victorious in both of her diving events against Niagara University on January 21. She took the top spot in the one-meter (228.98) and three-meter (334.35), surpassing the second-place finishers by over 10 points and 29 points in the one and three-meter dives, respectively.
