EDISON, NJ – Canisius College junior midfielder Erica Evans, alumna goalie Allison Daley (11’), current assistant coach Kaylin Morissette, and Monmouth University alumna goalie Katie Donohoe (’15) have been named to the 2017 Canadian Senior Women’s National Team. Griffs’ head coach Scott Teeter will guide team Canada into the 2017 FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup in Guildford, England.
Evans, a two-time MAAC Midfielder of the Year (2015 & 2016) joins team Canada after a historic 2016 campaign. The junior registered 29 points and scored 24 goals in the 2015 FIL U-19 World Championship and earned All-World Team honors. Evans set MAAC records for goals scored (72) and total points (91) last season. She led Canisius to its fifth MAAC Championship in 2016 and earned the MAAC Championship MVP for her efforts. Earlier this year Evans was named to the Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American Second Team.
Daley, a former MAAC Defensive Player of the Year (2010) played for the Griffs from 2008-11. The goalie recorded a total of 662 saves over the course of her career, which is a program record for career saves. Daley was named to the IWLCA All-West/Midwest Second Team after her senior season (2011). The goalie was a three-time All-MAAC Team representative (2009-11) and was twice ranked nationally in save percentage (seventh in 2011 & 10th in 2010).
Donohoe played for the Hawks from 2012-15 and was a Second Team All-MAAC selection (2015). She started 74 games in net and registered a 44.4 percent save percentage over the course of her career. Donohoe made 548 saves and had a 9.45 goals against average during her time in West Long Branch.
Canisius’ assistant coach Kaylin Morissette was a three-time All American at the University of Louisville. Morrissette was a member of Canada’s 2011 U-19 team that took home the bronze medal in the 2011 Women’s Lacrosse World Championship. She was named to the 2013 national team, which resulted in team Canada’s first-ever silver medal in the FIL World Cup. Morrissette finished her career ranked second all-time in NCAA history with 572 career draw controls.
The players on the final roster, along with two alternates selected from the training squad at the conclusion of the NCAA season, will take part in a final training camp this spring, after which a condensed roster for the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland will be announced.
