Quinnipiac Women's Hoops Ranked a Program Best Second in College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll

EDISON, NJ – Quinnipiac University’s Women’s Basketball team ranked second in this week’s College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. The No. 2 overall rank is the highest in program history. This marks the eighth week in a row that Quinnipiac has been ranked in the Top 10 dating back to November 15 and their highest rank since placing fourth on November 25.
Green Bay captured the top spot, receiving all 31 first place votes. Quinnipiac followed in second with a program record 701 points. The Bobcats are currently on a three-game winning streak and won their last two conference games since MAAC play resumed on December 30.
Quinnipiac defeated second place Rider University, 91-79 on Friday, December 30 on the road at Alumni Gymnasium in Lawrenceville, NJ. The Bobcats knocked off Saint Peter’s University, 82-47 in their return to the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, CT on Monday, January 2.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Thursday, January 5 against Niagara University at 11:00 a.m. from the Gallagher Center in Niagara Falls, NY. The Bobcats will continue their Western New York trip when they take on Canisius College on Sunday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m.
The Bobcats rank first in the MAAC in scoring defense (59.7), scoring margin (+10.9), field goal percentage defense (36.5%), three-point field goal percentage defense (26.6%), blocked shots (4.6), assists (17.1), steals (12.4), turnover margin (+5.71) and assist/turnover ratio (1.04).
For the fourth week in a row Rider received votes in the poll, but did not crack the Top 25. The Broncs received 67 votes this week.
