Rudeen & Mirocco Claim Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

Taylor Rudeen averaged 5.50 digs per set as Fairfield Volleyball won a pair of MAAC road matches this past weekend at Canisius and Niagara. After registering 12 digs in a Saturday sweep of the Golden Griffins, she matched her career high with 32 digs in the Stags’ 3-2 victory over the Purple Eagles. Rudeen added five assists and a service ace on the weekend. For the season, Rudeen ranks third in the MAAC with a team-leading 4.27 digs per set.
In the classroom, Rudeen is a MAAC All-Academic and Fairfield University Dean’s List student as a Biology major.

Sophomore Matt Mirocco was Iona's top scorer during their first USA-based soiled competitions of the fall.
At the Doc Gimmler hosted at Bethpage State Park, Mirocco tied for 37th among nationally ranked power houses like Florida State, Connecticut, Tale and Villanova. He shot a 218 (+8), highlighted by an even 70 in the first round.
At the Father George Hill Shootout hosted by Manhattan in Huntington, NY, Mirocco was the leading scorer for the Gaels as they took the top spot and secured the trophy. Mirocco shot an even 70 as the Maroon & Gold won the event by one stroke over Saint Peter's.
