Lizarazu & Adams To Face Each Other In Spanish LFB

SPAIN - Two legends of the Iona College women's basketball program are taking the court together on Saturday. But for the first time, it'll be on opposing teams. Joy Adams ('16) and Marina Lizarazu ('17) are playing professionally overseas in the Spanish LFB.
Lizarazu is playing for the C.D. Zamarat program, coached by Lucas Fernández Peces. The two-time All-MAAC First Team Performer and 2016 MAAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player is averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Her team recently just picked up its first win of the season.
Adams is playing for the Al-Qazeres program, coached by Jacinto Carbajala. Iona's all-time leading rebounder and number two all-time scorer is averaging 16.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in her second season within the league. Al-Qazeres is 2-2 thus far early on in the season.
In the first week of the season, Adams was named the Eurobasket.com Player of the Week. She had 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists as part of her team's opening 28-point victory over Campus Promete.
On matching up against her former teammate, Adams commented that "I think it will be exciting! I think it will be a great game. Her team has some great, and I am really looking forward to the matchup!"
Lizarazu expanded: "Who could have imagined two years ago that we were going to play against each other in Spain! Joy's an amazing player, and one of the greatest friends I've met at Iona. I absolutely loved playing with her at Iona, but I'm not sure I'm going to love going against her. She is just a great player. I am sure it's gonna be a great game!"
