Anthone, Carey, Gallino & Hatter Earn Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Rebecca Anthone, Canisius
Sr., Clarence, NY/Clarence
Rebecca Anthone takes home her second weekly award of the season with a three win weekend against the University of Rochester. Anthone took first in the 500, 200, and 50 free events with times of 5:17.96, 1:56.43, and 24.60 respectively. Her totals helped the Griffs top Rochester and secure a 182-116 victory.
Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Justin Carey, Rider
So., Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove
Justin Carey secures his second MAAC Swimmer of the Week award with a record breaking performance for Rider University this past weekend. The sophomore won four events and set three new Coppola Pool records. The first came in the 200 medley relay that recorded a time of 1:32.18, the second was his 49.13 time in the 100 back, and the third record came in the 100 back when he recorded a time of 48.96. Carey also won the 200 back with a time of 1:52.75.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Breanne Hatter, Rider
Jr., Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South
Breanne Hatter won the 1-meter dive with a score of 265.27 and placed third in the 3-meter dive with a score of 247.50. Hatter continues her strong start to the season, winning her third-straight MAAC Women’s Diver of the Week.
Men’s Diver of the Week
Peter Gallino, Marist
Sr., Watertown, CT/Sacred Heart High School
Peter Gallino had led the Red Foxes this past weekend as they took on Fordham. The senior not only won the 3-meter dive, he secured himself a spot in the NCAA Zone Qualifier Championships with a score of 354.82. He also won the 1-meter dive with a score of 332.85, which helped secure Marist’s first win over Fordham since 2014.
