Iona Wins Second Straight MAAC Women's Cross Country Championship

HOLMDEL, NJ – The Iona College Gaels have claimed their second consecutive MAAC Women’s Cross Country Championships and their 12
th team championship in the last 13 years. Following Iona in second place was Marist College with 71 points and Quinnipiac rounds out the top-3 with a total of 78 points.
Iona’s Egle Morenaite is the 2017 MAAC Women’s Cross Country Championship Individual Winner, completing the women’s 6k in 21:20.05, which is the second fastest time in course history. Morenaite takes home the MAAC Most Outstanding Female Runner award as well as Rookie of the Year honors.
Morenaite was followed by freshman teammate Sophie Murphy who finished second overall with a time of 21:27.61. Joining the two Gaels on the All-Rookie team are, Hayley Collins, Maria Smith and Gianna Tedeschi of Marist College, all of whom finished in the top-20.
