10 MAAC Soccer Programs Earn 2016-17 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards

EDISON, NJ – 10 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) soccer programs earned 2016-17 United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) Team Academic Awards, as announced by the organization today.
 
A total of 813 collegiate teams (282 men, 531 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 195 schools who had both their men’s and women’s programs among the recipients. The MAAC had six men’s soccer programs and four women’s soccer programs recognized for their excellence in academics.
 
On the men’s side, Canisius College, Manhattan College, Marist College, Monmouth University, Rider University, and Siena College claimed Team Academic Awards. Rider posted the highest GPA of any MAAC men’s soccer who received the honor, with a cumulative team-mark of 3.40.
 
The four MAAC women’s soccer programs to receive the honor were, Marist, Monmouth, Rider, and Siena. The Broncs’ women’s soccer team led all MAAC soccer programs with a 3.55 GPA in 2016-17. Four institutions had both their men’s and women’s soccer programs recognized by the organization (Marist, Monmouth, Rider, and Siena).

College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point of average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster.
