MAAC Schools to Participate in ECAC/IC4A Championships

EDISON, NJ – Eight of the 11 MAAC schools will head to Van Cortlandt Park, NY on Saturday, November 18 to compete in the 2017 ECAC/IC4A Cross Country Championships. The eight schools include Canisius College, Fairfield University, Iona College, Manhattan College, Monmouth University, Rider University, Siena College, and Saint Peter’s University.
The women will compete in the ECAC Division 1 Championships at 11:15 a.m. while the men will race at 11:45 a.m. in the 109th Annual IC4A Cross Country Championships.
In 2016 Iona College women’s cross country placed third overall in the ECAC Division 1 Cross Country Championship behind the individual performance of Rachel Garn who ran the 5k in 18:25. In the University division Monmouth edged Marist by one point 108-109 to take home first place as a team. Manhattan finished fifth with a score of 131.
Seven MAAC student-athletes were named 2016 All-ECAC, Rachel Garn and Gemma Nuttal of Iona, Lisa Fajardo, Alexa Roda, and Kaitlyn Smith of Manhattan, Allie Wilson of Monmouth, and Siena’s Sarah Forman.
On the men’s side Manhattan finished fifth in the 108
th running of the IC4A Men’s Cross Country Championships. In the University division Marist (fourth), Siena (fifth), and Rider (seventh) all finished in the top-10.
Four MAAC student-athletes received 2016 All-East honors, Dietrich Mosel from Marist, Kyle Mueller of Monmouth, Rider’s Danniel Belay, and Evans Kibet of Siena.
