Championship Sunday: No. 1 Fairfield faces No. 3 Iona in the 2017 MAAC Volleyball Championship final on Sunday, November 19, at 2 p.m. from Alumni Hall on the campus of Fairfield University. The meeting between the Stags and Gaels marks the second time that the teams are going to play in the MAAC Volleyball Championship final. Iona swept Fairfield to claim the 2004 MAAC Volleyball Championship, its only title in program history. Fairfield earned nine MAAC Volleyball Championships, tied for the most in the conference’s history with Siena College. The Stags are set to make their 18
th championship final appearance, the most is league history. The Gaels are appearing in their third championship final.
Take Three: Fairfield and Iona meet for the third time this season. The Stags defeated the Gaels in both regular season meetings. The teams opened up the conference slate against each other on September 16, with Fairfield coming out on top, 3-2. The second match took place on October 22, from Alumni Hall, where the Stags earned a sweep.
Championship Series History: Over the course of MAAC Volleyball Championship history, Fairfield and Iona have met four times, with the Stags holding the advantage in the series, 3-1:

Seed-by-Seed: The No. 1 seed has claimed the MAAC Championship a total of 16 times, the most by any seed in league history. The No. 3 seed has earned the Championship title once (Saint Peter’s, 1990). Iona is the second-straight No. 3 seed to advance to the final, and the fourth overall in conference history.
