Three MAAC Volleyball Student-Athletes Earn All-ECAC Honors
DANBURY, CT – Three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) volleyball student-athletes earned All-ECAC honors, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
Iona College junior outside hitter Claire Archibald and Rider University senior setter Veronica Koval were named to the All-ECAC First Team. Broncs’ senior libero Emma Aldaya was tabbed to the All-ECAC Second Team.
Archibald, an All-MAAC First Team selection, led the league in kills (485), points (567.5), points per set (4.20), and service aces (61). The junior ranked second in the MAAC in kills per set (3.67) and aces per set (0.46). Archibald earned the MAAC Player of the Week honor on September 19.
Koval was named to the All-MAAC Second Team for the second year in a row. The setter recorded the second-most assists in the league (1,136) and ranked second in assists per set (9.47). Over the course of her career, Koval dished out 3,113 assists (7.01) per set, and became the third student-athlete in Rider’s history to notch 1,000 assists in a season. Koval was twice named MAAC Player of the Week in 2017 (September 12 & October 17).
Aldaya finished her senior campaign second in the MAAC in digs (505) and fifth in digs per set (4.21). The libero recorded 2,127 career digs, which are the most by a Bronc in program history. Aldaya registered 20 or more digs in a match nine times this season.
