Four MAAC Student-Athletes Tabbed to United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s Scholar All-East Region Teams

EDISON, NJ – Four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s soccer student-athletes were named to United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Scholar All-East Region Teams, as announced by the organization.
 
Monmouth University graduate back Gabriella Cuevas was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s Scholar All-East Region First Team, while teammate senior forward Rachelle Ross earned a Second Team selection. Quinnipiac University junior forward/midfield Nadya Gill and Siena College senior midfield Michele Tremblay joined Ross on the Second Team.
 
Cuevas earned the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honor and was an All-MAAC First Team Selection this past season. The graduate anchored the 2017 MAAC Champions’ backline that posted the most shutouts in the league (11), allowed the fewest goals (19), and had the lowest goals against average (0.88). The Wayne, NJ native added three goals in 15 games for Monmouth. Cuevas notched a multi-goal game against Siena on October 14, and two of her three goals this season were game-winners.
 
Ross claimed All-MAAC Second Team honors in 2017. She was tied for ninth in the MAAC in goals scored (six) and tied for second in game-winning goals (three). The senior tallied a pair of goals against Quinnipiac on September 30, which marked her fifth multi-goal game of her career. Ross was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week on October 2.
 
Gill was named to the All-MAAC First Team and earned an honorable mention from the ECAC. The junior led the league in points (34) and goals scored (13). She was tied for fourth in the conference in assists (eight) and registered the most shots (78). Gill tallied four multi-goal games in 2017, including a hat-trick against Saint Peter’s University on September 16. She was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week twice (August 21 & September 18).
 
Tremblay was tabbed to the All-MAAC First Team in her senior campaign. The Goffstown, NH native was tied for the league-lead in assists (nine) and assists per game (0.47). She notched two goals to go along with her nine assists for a total of 13 points on the season.
