BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND – Day one of the inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic featured Manhattan College defeating Holy Cross and Towson University knocking off La Salle University in front of over 5,000 fans in the SSE Arena in Belfast.

Based on yesterday’s results, Manhattan and Towson compete in the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic Championship Game live on the CBS Sports Network at 5PM ET. La Salle and Holy Cross meet in the consolation game at 9:30 PM ET, also on the CBS Sports Network. Another large crowd is expected today as the two-day event wraps up. The Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic is the first-ever NCAA Basketball event to be held in Europe.

Manhattan enters today’s championship game with a 3-4 record while Towson is 7-1 and is currently in the middle of a seven-game winning streak. The Jaspers had four double-digit scorers in its win over Holy Cross (Zane Waterman, Calvin Crawford, Pauly Paulicap, Aaron Walker Jr.) Mike Morsell and Zane Martin combined for 37 points in the Tigers victory over La Salle.

La Salle (4-4) and Holy Cross (2-4) compete in the consolation game of the Belfast Classic. The Explorers were led by BJ Johnson, who scored a game-high 24 points in the setback to Towson. Ireland native Cian Sullivan started for the Explorers in front of his hometown crowd. Caleb Green paced the Crusaders with 11 points in the loss to Manhattan.

The Sport Changes Life Foundation (SCLF) in partnership with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (BHOF) and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) present the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic. For the first time ever, college basketball will be played outside of the United States in Europe in Belfast’s SSE Arena.
