MAAC Men’s Basketball Conference Play Tips-Off On Thursday
EDISON, NJ – The conference portion of the 2017-18 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball schedule begins on Thursday, December 28. Each institution plays an unbalanced 18-game league schedule, featuring nine home and nine away games.

League Notes:
- Niagara’s Matt Scott leads the conference with 23.9 points per game, which ranks fifth overall in the NCAA. Scott has been named MAAC Player of the Week three times this season
- Canisius’ Isaiah Reese and Monmouth’s Austin Tilghman have recorded triple-doubles this season. Reese was the first student-athlete in the nation to record a triple-double (23 pts, 11 rebs, 11 asts) in a 104-84 win over Youngstown State on November 18. Tilghman’s triple-double (11 pts, 14 rebs, 15 asts) came on December 22 in the Hawks 85-64 win over Yale.
- A total of 95 MAAC Men’s Basketball games will air on the ESPN family of networks during the 2017-18 season.
- Back-to-back MAAC Champions, Iona, was selected as the preseason favorite, receiving nine of 11 first-place votes. Manhattan finished second in the preseason poll, receiving two first-place votes.
- Saint Peter’s graduate guard Nick Griffin scored a league-high 37 points in the Peacocks 86-62 victory over Lafayette on November 26. Saint Peter’s claimed the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Postseason (CIT) Championship.
- Rider freshman Jordan Allen, a three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week, leads all freshmen with 15.9 points per game, which is tied for seventh-best in the conference.
The 2018 MAAC Basketball Championships are held at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY on March 1-5, 2018, for the fourth year in a row and continues to be the host site for the Championships through 2019. This year’s Basketball Championships marks the 19
th time that Albany will host the event, more than any other location. The 2018 MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship game airs on ESPN or ESPN2 on Monday, March 5 at 7 p.m. This is determined 7-10 days prior to the championship.
