Quinnipiac's Shewan & Iona's Abiola Earn MAAC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

Sarah Shewan, Quinnipiac

Sarah Shewan made her first start of the season against defending A-10 champion Dayton and tallied 24 points and 13 rebounds en route to a win. The 24 points tied her career-high, while the 13 rebounds was one shy of her personal best. Shewan then recorded 22 points and nine rebounds in an 81-65 victory over Richmond. For the week, the senior averaged 23.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game. She shot 58.3 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from behind the arc.
Rookie of the Week
Toyosi Abiola, Iona
Fr., G, London, England/City of London Academy
Freshman Toyosi Abiola started both games for Iona and averaged 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds per game, and shot 40.0 percent from the floor. Against the Bison, the guard had two assists and one steal. Abiola claims her third MAAC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week honor of the season.
