Laszlo Named NFHCA All-American For Second Straight Season
CHANDLER, AZ – For the second consecutive season, Monmouth University field hockey defender
Julie Laszlo has been named to the Longstregth / National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America Third Team, the organization announced Tuesday. The senior, who joined Trish O'Dwyer (2014) last year as the only All-American recipients in program history, becomes the first Hawk to repeat as All-American.
The two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player and Defensive Player of the Year was also a two-time All-Mid-Atlantic Team member. The MAAC Preseason Player of the Year recorded a program-best 23 assists this season, the first Hawk to eclipse 20 assists in a single-season and finished as the nation's leader with 1.21 helpers per game. The Netherlands native added eight goals and finished the year with 39 points. The defender, who had a team-best two defensive saves, also controlled one of the best defenses in the league as the Hawks allowed a conference-low 1.26 goals per game. The senior will graduate with 99 career points, good for third all-time in program history.
Laszlo and the Hawks captured their fourth-straight MAAC Regular Season Title and earned its first national ranking during the 2017 campaign, coming in at No. 25 on two occasions.
