Foti, Wurtz, Wright and Berardelli Earn Final Swimming and Diving Weekly Awards for 2017

Men's Swimmer of the Week
Christian Foti, Iona
Jr., 6’4”, Belle Harbor, NY/Chaminade
Christian Foti was victorious in four individual events this past week. He picked up two wins against Fordham University on Wednesday and the other two came against the Manhattan College Jaspers on Saturday.
Against Fordham, Foti touched the wall first in the 100-freestyle (47.92 seconds) and the 1000-freestyle (9:42.19). Later in the week against Manhattan, he also claimed first place in the 200-freestyle (1:43.49) and 500-freestyle (4:42.91).
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Meredith Wurtz, Marist
Sr., 5’9”, Lafayette Hill, PA/William Penn Charter
On January 28, senior Meredith Wurtz took first place in three events in her final team victory at home against Binghamton University (165-135). She touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.64) and also the 50-yard freestyle (24.35 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (53.36 seconds). Her 100-yard freestyle first place finish was the fastest time Wurtz swam at home all season. She also anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished second (3:42.18).
Men's Diver of the Week
Travis Wright, Canisius
Jr., 5-9, Derby, NY/Lake Shore
At the Fredonia Diving Invite, junior Travis Wright took home first place in both of his diving events. In each event, he finished with his highest scores of the season in the 1-meter (371.85) and 3-meter (383.85).
Women's Diver of the Week
Megan Berardelli, Marist
Jr., 5’3”, Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon
On January 28, Megan Berardelli led a pair of 1-2-3 finishes on the board in her team’s victory over Binghamton (165-135) to finish the season. She placed first in the 1-meter (278.25) and also in the 3-meter (292.27). For her 2016-17 season, Berardelli won both diving events at five dual meets and one invitational.
