Offensive Player of the Week
Conor Kearnan, Canisius
Sr., 5-8, A, Courtice, Ontario/St. Stephen's (Saint Joseph's Univ.)
Kearnan posted career highs in goals (4), assists (5) and points (9) to lead Canisius to a 13-8 victory over Dartmouth in its season opener Saturday. He notched first man down goal of his career in second quarter and assisted on each of the Griffs final three tallies in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Defensive Player of the Week
Brian Corrigan, Marist
R-Jr., 5-10, GK, East Quogue, NY/ Westhampton Beach
Corrigan made 16 saves and allowed just four goals when Marist defeated no. 14 Air Force in a road game Feb. 18. He picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover in the 10-4 Red Foxes victory. Corrigan helped the Marist defense hold the Falcons scoreless on six extra man opportunities in the contest. Saturday was the second time in as many years that Marist has defeated a nationally ranked opponent.
Rookie of the Week
Justin Schwenk, Monmouth
Fr., 6-0, M, Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford
Justin Schwenk had a breakout performance for Monmouth in the Hawks’ 11-9 loss at Hofstra. The freshman faceoff man tied the program record with 15 faceoffs won, going 15-for-21 on the day. Schwenk became the second Monmouth player to win 15 faceoffs in one game, joining Keegan Teluk, who went 15-for-18 against Marist on March 19, 2016. Schwenk also scored his first collegiate goal and picked up eight ground balls in the game, which also tied the program mark.
