Manhattan College junior forward Kayla Grimme averaged 29.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in her final two regular season games against Monmouth University and Marist College. After tallying 25 points against Monmouth on Friday night, she erupted for a career-high 34 points, including 30 in the second half (and 21 in the fourth quarter), in the regular season finale at Marist on Sunday. Grimme went 13-of-20 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from three-point range in the contest. With her 34-point performance, it was the first 30-point effort by a Jasper in six years, she tied this season’s MAAC single-game high.
Rookie of the Week
Kayla Shaw, Monmouth

In three games this week, freshman Kayla Shaw averaged 15.0 points per game while making Monmouth history. In the Hawks win over Manhattan on Friday night, Shaw buried her 80th three-pointer of the season, tying the single-season program record. She went on to hit four more that night, setting the program record for three-pointers made in a season with 84. In Sunday’s win against Niagara, Shaw extended that lead with another four triples to total 88 three-pointers made in 29 games played this year.
Shaw started the week with a 13-point outing at Rider University on Tuesday, before scoring 18 points in the win at Manhattan on Friday. In Monmouth’s win over Niagara University on Sunday, Shaw poured in 14 points to register her 18th game in double-figures this season, and third of the week. She drilled 12 threes in the three games, shooting 52.2 percent from deep. From the field, Shaw went 16-of-29 (55.2%) during the week.
