2017 MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship Field is Set

EDISON, NJ – The 2016-17 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season has completed and all 11 teams will advance to play for the 2017 MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship Trophy at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY from March 2-6.
The MAAC Basketball Championships will tip-off on Thursday, March 2 with a full slate of Women’s Basketball action. The first round of the women’s tournament will begin with No. 8 Canisius College (9-20, 8-12 MAAC) taking on No. 9 Niagara University (8-21, 5-15 MAAC) at 9:30 a.m.
The second game of the day will feature No. 7 Monmouth University (14-15, 9-11 MAAC) vs. No. 10 Manhattan College (8-21, 4-16 MAAC) at 11:30 a.m. followed by No. 6 Marist College (14-16, 11-9 MAAC) vs. No. 11 Saint Peter’s (3-26, 2-18 MAAC) at 1:30 p.m. to wrap up the first round of play. All first round games will be streamed on MAAC.TV free of charge.
On Friday, March 3 the Women’s Basketball quarterfinals will begin with No. 1 Quinnipiac University (24-6, 17-3 MAAC) and the winner of Game 1 (No. 8 Canisius or No. 9 Niagara) at 1:00 p.m. The second quarterfinals matchup will be between No. 2 Rider University (22-7, 16-4 MAAC) and the winner of Game 2 (No. 7 Monmouth or No. 10 Manhattan) at 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday, March 4 the Women’s Basketball quarterfinals continue with No. 3 Fairfield University (16-13, 13-7 MAAC) and the winner of Game 3 (No. 6 Marist or No. 11 Saint Peter’s) at 12:00 p.m. The final quarterfinals matchup will be No. 4 Siena College (14-15, 12-8 MAAC) vs. No. 5 Iona College (17-12, 12-8 MAAC) at 2:30 p.m. All quarterfinals games will be streamed on MAAC.TV.
The Women’s Basketball semifinals and finals will air live on the ESPN family networks. The semifinals will take place on Sunday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. live on ESPN3. The 2017 MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship game will be played on Monday, March 6 at 5:00 p.m. live on ESPNU.
