Saint Peter’s Men’s Basketball Faces Texas State University in CIT Quarterfinals

EDISON, NJ – The Saint Peter’s University Men’s Basketball team will face Texas State University in the quarterfinals of the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament on Saturday, March 25 at 5:00 p.m. The game will be streamed on Facebook Live.

The Peacocks advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating UAlbany, 59-55, in the first round of the tournament on March 16, earning a bye. With the win, the Peacocks clinched its first 20-win season, its first since the 2010-11 season. It was also the first postseason win for Saint Peter’s since the 1980 National Invitation Tournament.

Saint Peter’s (20-13) and Texas State (22-13) meet for the first-time ever. The Peacocks are led by Quadir Welton and Trevis Wyche, who are averaging 12.1 and 11.4 points per game, respectively. The Peacocks held opponents to a league best 61.6 points per game behind 2016-17 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, Chazz Patterson. The Peacocks went 14-6 in the MAAC this season and were a two seed in the MAAC Championship, defeating Canisius in the quarterfinals, before falling to eventual MAAC Champion Iona, in the semifinals.

The semifinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament take place on Wednesday, March 29 on the CBS Sports Network with the championship game taking place on Friday, March 31 at 9:00 p.m. on the CBS Sports Network.
