Marist's Rebekah Hand Named ECAC Rookie of the Year

EDISON, NJ – Marist College freshman guard Rebekah Hand was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Year as announced by the organization on Thursday, March 23. Hand was also named the unanimous Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Year after her freshman campaign.

Hand averaged 13.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in 32 starts for Marist. The guard led MAAC freshmen in scoring, rebounding, defensive rebounds per game (4.6), and minutes per game (36.0).

She ranked ninth in the league in scoring (13.7 ppg), eighth in rebounding (6.8 rpg), tied for sixth in assists (3.0 apg), tied for fourth in free-throw percentage (79.7%), tied for fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.0), tied for eighth in defensive rebounds per game (4.6), and fourth in minutes played (36.0).

The Argyle, TX native was named MAAC Rookie of the Week eight times this season and earned the honor five weeks in a row (November 21-December 19). Hand was a unanimous selection to the All-Rookie Team.
