Robinson, Washington Named to ECAC First Team; Robinson Named ECAC Player of the Year

EDISON, NJ – Monmouth University’s Justin Robinson is the 2016-17 ECAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year. Iona’s Jordan Washington, along with Robinson, were voted as ECAC First Team Selections.
Robinson was named the unanimous MAAC Player of the Year, becoming just the fourth player in conference history to win this award in back to back seasons. He ranked first in the conference with 19.7 points per game and fourth with 4.8 assists per game. Robinson made 2.8 three-pointers per game, which was third best in the MAAC. Robinson was also named to the All-Championship Team for the Hawks and was a NABC First Team All-District selection.
Washington was named unanimously to the All-MAAC First Team. His 18.0 points per game for the Gaels was third best in the conference. Washington also ranked third in the MAAC with a 55.2 field-goal percentage and fifth in the MAAC with 7.6 rebounds per game. He was named Tournament MVP for the Gaels, who won the MAAC Championship for the second consecutive season. Washington was a NABC First Team All-District selection.
