Men’s Field Performer of the Week

Ire Bozovicar, Manhattan

Jr., Potoki, Slovenia

Bozovicar took second in the discus and sixth in the shot put at the Monmouth Season Opener.  He got out to a personal-best distance of 52.72 meters (172 feet, 11 inches), which bettered the IC4A qualifying standard, in the discus on Friday.  Then on Saturday, Bozovicar had a best effort of 15.73 m (51’7¼) in the shot put.

Men’s Track Performer of the Week 

Peter Guerriero, Monmouth

Fr., Lyndhurst, NJ

Monmouth freshman Peter Guerriero picked up two wins at the 22nd Annual Monmouth Season Opener this weekend. In the men’s 100 meter dash, he shared the win with teammate Bryan Sosoo, as they both finished in 10.86 to best 43 other athletes. Guerriero also won the men’s 200 meter dash in a field of 74 with a time of 22.05.

Women’s Field Performer of the Week

Faith Blamon, Monmouth

Sr., Cinnaminson, NJ

Senior captain Faith Blamon won the women’s javelin throw at the 22nd Annual Monmouth University Season Opener with a throw of 45.48 meters. The toss qualified her for ECAC/IC4A’s later in the year, and was more than four meters from the next closest thrower. Blamon took the gold in a field of 26 total athletes.

Women’s Track Performer of the Week 

Sara Gardner, Rider

Jr., Holland Township, NJ

Junior sprinter Sara Gardner opened the outdoor season with a strong showing at The Penn Challenge last week. In the one-day event contest at Franklin Field on Saturday, she won the 100M hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 14.18. Her performance helped lead the Broncs to a third-place finish at the event.
