Rickey McGill and Schadrac Casimir combined to score 47 points for Iona en route to an 88-70 victory over Fairfield. McGill led all scorers with 25 points while Casimir scored 25 points on six-of-ten shooting from the field. Jordan Washington scored 16 points in this quarterfinal matchup and recorded his 1,000th career point as a member of the Iona Gaels.
After a slow start in the first half, Rider came out in the second half on a 7-0 run to bring them within seven points of Iona. The Gaels were about to withstand the Broncs run as they led wire-to-wire. Iona converted 18 Rider turnovers into 24 points. The entire Rider starting five scored in double-digits with unanimous All-Rookie Team selection Stevie Jordan leading the way with 19 points.
Iona will now face Saint Peter’s for a chance to make it to the 2017 MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship Game. The Gaels-Peacocks semifinal matchup is tomorrow, Sunday, March 5 at 7pm live on ESPN3.

Javion Ogunyemi led all scorers with 24 points in Siena’s 78-66 quarterfinal victory over fifth seeded Fairfield. Brett Bisping posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Lavon Long added 17 points on six-of-nine shooting from the field. The Saint shot 48% from the field in the second half.
For the Stags, All-MAAC First Team Selection Tyler Nelson scored a game-high 25 points for Fairfield in the defeat. Matija Milin added 14 points and Amadou Sidibe scored 10 points and added seven rebounds.
The Saints will take on top-seeded Monmouth University tomorrow, Sunday, March 5 at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN3.
