Offensive Player of the Week
Joe Tierney, Marist
Fr., 5-10, A, Bethpage, NY/Bethpage
Tierney assisted on the game-winning goal with six seconds left as Marist erased a four-goal deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat Siena on April 29. His score at 9:47 of the fourth quarter kick started a 5-0 run for the Red Foxes, who came out on top, 6-5, for their fourth straight win and denied the Saints a MAAC Championship berth. Tierney fired three shots, including two on goal, and has now notched a point in his first 14 collegiate contests. Marist will host the MAAC Championships on May 5 and 7 in Tenney Stadium.
Defensive Player of the Week
Brian Corrigan, Marist
R-Jr., 5-10, GK, East Quogue, NY/Westhampton Beach
Corrigan made 11 saves on 31 shots faced in Marist's 6-5 comeback win against Siena in the regular season finale April 29. After making one stop in the final quarter he sprinted down to midfield to rally the Red Foxes' offense into the attacking zone. He also collected two ground balls. Corrigan compiled a .688 save percentage on the night as Siena fell out of postseason contention and Marist earned the no. 3 seed in the MAAC Championships. He entered the weekend leading the MAAC and ranked second in the nation in save percentage.
Rookie of the Week
Michael Smith, Marist
Fr., 5-10, M, Cortlandt Manor, NY
Michael Smith scored the game-winning goal with six seconds to play when Marist eliminated Siena from postseason contention with a 6-5 victory April 29. Smith's score capped a five-goal outburst in the fourth quarter that got the Red Foxes their fourth straight win in the regular season finale. Smith had five shots in the game, including four on goal, and picked up a ground ball. The Red Foxes earned the no. 3 seed in the MAAC Championships with their latest victory. They will host the postseason contests May 5 and 7 in Tenney Stadium.
