10 MAAC Student-Athletes Receive NFCA Division I All-Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, KY – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced its 2017 Division I All-Region teams. A total of 667 student-athletes from 175 programs across the nation were named to NFCA Division I All-Region teams. 10 MAAC student-athletes from six different programs received recognition from the NFCA.
Marist College had three student-athletes selected to NFCA All-Region teams to lead MAAC member institutions. Senior outfielder Janna Korak was named to the Northeast Region First Team, junior outfielder Gabrielle Kelliher, and sophomore infielder Brandi Coon were Second Team selections.
Fairfield University and Manhattan College each had two student-athletes named to NFCA Northeast Region teams. Stags' sophomore infielder Courtney Hankins earned Northeast Region Second Team recognition and freshman outfielder Amanda Ulzheimer was a Third Team honoree. Jaspers' freshman pitcher Nicole Williams earned a spot on the Northeast Region Second Team and sophomore infielder Lauren Pitney made the Third Team.
Canisius College sophomore utility Lauren Castro, 2017 MAAC Pitcher of the Year, Iona College sophomore Alana Evans, and 2017 MAAC Player of the Year, Siena College sophomore infielder Madysen Cossack were named to the Great Lakes Region Third Team.
All 10 student-athletes were selected to All-MAAC Team at the annual Postseason Awards Show on May 10.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced that 667 student-athletes from 175 programs have received 2017 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2017 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
Conference's players and pitcher of the year are added to the third team if they were not already selected to an All-Region team.
The 2017 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 31, via NFCA.org.
