Four MAAC Softball Student-Athletes Named to All-ECAC Teams

DANBURY, CT – Four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Softball student-athletes have been named to All-ECAC Teams, as announced by the organization on Thursday. Marist College senior outfielder Janna Korak was named to the All-ECAC First Team. Canisius College sophomore utility Lauren Castro, Monmouth University junior pitcher Amanda Riley, and Siena College infielder Madysen Cossack earned All-ECAC Second Team honors.
Korak was named to the All-MAAC First Team, National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region First Team, and the MAAC All-Academic Team in her senior campaign. The senior hit .366 (70-191) with 14 home runs and 54 RBI in 59 games. She led the league in hits (70), home runs, and RBI.
Castro earned an All-MAAC Second Team selection and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Third Team honor. She hit .355 (61-172) with 11 home runs and 50 RBI in 52 games. Castro was seventh in the MAAC in hitting, second in RBI, third in hits, and second in home runs.
Riley was an All-MAAC First Team selection and a member of the MAAC All-Academic team. She went 17-18 with a 2.59 ERA (92 earned runs/248.1 innings pitched) in 46 games, 34 starts. She tossed a league-high 20 complete games and five shutouts, the second-most in the league. The junior led the MAAC in innings pitched, strikeouts (241), appearances, and starts.
Cossack earned the 2017 MAAC Player of the Year award, was an All-MAAC First Teamer, and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Third Team selection. The sophomore hit .379 (53-140) with 10 home runs, and 45 RBI in 51 games this season. Cossack led the league in slugging percentage (.700), was second in hitting, third in on-base percentage (.464), third in RBI, tied for fourth in doubles, tied for third in home runs, and tied for fourth in total bases.
